About Francois
Francois is a highly skilled, dual-licensed technology lawyer with extensive experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, intellectual property law, and litigation. With a keen understanding of the complexities surrounding these areas of law, he is dedicated to providing clients with top-notch legal representation and strategic advice. Francois is known for his attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to navigate through the ever-changing landscape of technology and law.
Prior to joining Donna Purcell QC Law, Francois worked for over six years in Jamaica as a commercial litigator, trademark agent and patent agent at two of the island’s largest law firms. Francois earned a Bachelor of Laws degree (First Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies in 2014 and a Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School in 2016 where he graduated as Class Valedictorian and was admitted to practice law that same year. In January 2024, Francois obtained a Master of Laws (Privacy Law and Cybersecurity) from the University of Calgary where he completed a comprehensive thesis titled “The Datafication of Open Banking: A critical interrogation into the data privacy issues and cybersecurity risk implications of cross-border data flows under Canada’s proposed Open Banking Framework” under the supervision of Professor Emily B. Laidlaw.

Francois is admitted to practice law in Jamaica (2016) and the Canadian provinces of Ontario (2023) and Alberta (2024). He is currently a member of the International Bar Association, the International Trademark Association, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the Canadian Bar Association and the Jamaican Bar Association where he served as the co-chair for the Publications and Law Reporting Committee.
