Student Intern
Vanessa Rickards is a second-year Dean’s List student at the University of Calgary, working towards her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Studying psychology has helped Vanessa realize that her core desire is to understand and help others. Therefore, she enjoys being an intern at a law firm that assists many members of the community.
Having excelled at a fully self-directed high school and one year of asynchronous online university, Vanessa has been able to cultivate strong senses of creativity and motivation. She will be using these skills to assist Donna Purcell QC Law with volunteer projects, innovation, technology, and social media. Thus far, Vanessa has helped organize “Lawyers vs Talent”, a virtual fundraiser event that raised $30,000.00 for various Pro Bono organizations.
Vanessa’s other passions include being with friends and family, travelling, exercising, dancing (having graduated from YYC Dance Project and Alberta Ballet School), and reading. Some of her favourite travel and dance adventures have included being invited to train with Boston Ballet School, Bolshoi Ballet School, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and Joffrey Ballet School.
